Taylor’s Peak Trip!

After a very busy year with little time left for family I decided to make family time a priority for 2018. This is the first of a few weekend trips that we will be taking this year. I think taking time to unplug and enjoy life with the ones I love the most will only make me a better person and photographer.

Thanks to Airbnb we booked this adorable place in the mountains about 30 minutes outside of Boone. It was a perfect cabin with gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was also only a 15 minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Jim and Sue were the most amazing hosts. They welcomed us into their home with open arms. They feel like old friends when you meet them. They have traveled and lived all over the world and have touched so many lives. They even host a camp for families and kids with autism every year called Kampn on their property.

Jim and Sue are both active members of the American Hiking Society and they have created trails all over their property! We enjoyed over 10 miles on their land. They even have an amazing creek, a small waterfall, a playground, a chapel they built themselves (that they renewed their vows in) and an outdoor prayer space with the Virgin Mary. There was so much I’m sure I am forgetting something!

We arrived during a really windy night (gusts up to 50mph) and an amazing full moon. The pathway leading away from their house pointed right to the moon like it was lighting our way! Even with the light of the full moon there were so many stars in the sky!

Piper the cat was at our door waiting to greet us every time we walked out. One of my favorite parts was watching the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains from their hot tub! I have such amazing memories from this weekend trip and I can’t wait for another one next month!
