Tiffany and Thomas are Married!

Tiffany and Thomas were married at Dewberry Farm last Saturday in Kernersville, NC. I’ve been adventuring with Tiffany and Thomas for awhile now. From their home, to the Asheville mountains, to a creek, to a waterfall and now running barefoot in a horse pasture and hanging out with a Bonnie and Clyde car at sunset. This has been epic and I’m sure our friendship is far from over! 

Tiffany and Thomas first met met while working together at J’Peppers Southern Grille in Kernersville, NC. They both have different stories for the first date. Thomas said that their first date was JP Looney’s for a Trivia Night. Tiffany wrote “he asked if I wanted to join, but did not specify, that it was a date. He always says that I was so late, that I got there at the last question of the night. He was in the lead , and would get a free bar tab if he won. He bet, all his points on the last question. I can remember the question, now. However, Thomas put an answer, down, and I changed it at the last second, and it was wrong, and he lost all his points. Somehow, he still wanted to date me, after I lost his free bar tab!”

Tiffany says that she asked him to go on a 2 week backpacking trip out west and he said yes. She says that the first day of that trip was their official first date. One thing they both agree on is that they fell in love on that adventure while exploring and sharing a tiny tent.

Tiffany and Thomas have been dating for over 4 years and have known each other for 7 years. Last year they decided to go on a trip for Christmas. They took a 5 day cruise on the Royal Caribbean but also had fun on the way there. They drove to Atlanta first and went to the Georgia Aquarium and the CNN Tour. The second stop of the trip was Miami. They stayed on South Beach, hung out at the beach and went to the clubs. 

Once on the cruise they headed to the Eastern Caribbean. Tiffany tells the best stories so I will let you hear her words. “We had grand adventures there, and just did spur of the moment things like trying local cuisine and hiking to the top of the mountain. It was beautiful and full of butterflies everywhere. The place, that he proposed was in St. Thomas, at Magens Bay. I joked with him, that he had this all planned, because his name is Thomas, in St. Thomas, and the captain of our ship was Thomas, too. We had just got done with an excursion with the cruise, where we had went kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking. We wanted to have a relaxing rest of the day, so we decided to go to Magens Bay, which is ranked one of the top beaches of the world. 

Thomas, told me later, that he had planned to propose, while we were on the excursion, but there were too many people. So, he was carrying around my engagement ring, without the box, in his swimming trunks, while kayaking, and snorkeling. If I would have known that, I would have had a heart attack. My engagement ring, and the band, are from my mother. It was a ring that my father, had made for my mother when I was born. It has diamonds, and emeralds, for my month I was born in May. My mother, and father were together for 25 years, before my dad passed. They had been together since 5th grade. Their love is an example of what love is through thick, and thin. I wanted the ring to remind me everyday, that love is something you have to work for, but enjoy. Later, from my mother, I found out that he had been carrying the ring around for a year, trying to find the best moment. However, to get back to the story. 

We went to Magens Bay, it was absolutely beautiful, it was the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. It had a white sandy beach, mountain in the background, that made you think you just came out of the jungle. It was full of life, and lots of people, when we got there. But if you walked about half a mile away, the crowds went away, and then I found it was just him and me. There was an altar already set up, with seashells, and bamboo, for a wedding that day, or a wedding that had already happened. 

Thomas started talking about what we wanted for a wedding, and if we could do a destination wedding, and I was like yes. Then he started asking me the romantic, gushy things. He took my hand, and took me to the altar, and asked if I would hold his hand like this on our wedding day, and tell everyone, that I wanted to be with him forever. Of course, I said yes. I turned around to look at a pelican, that rushed for a fish in the water, and when I turned around he was down on one knee. At first, I thought it was joke, because the ring was hidden in his hand, and he jokes with me a lot, but once he moved his hand a bit, I could see the ring. I was ecstatic, and happy. Thomas said I had the biggest smile, he has ever seen. I didn’t cry, but instead, kept kissing Thomas repeatedly, and repeatedly. Finally, he got up from his knee, and said you have to stop kissing me because I have to ask you a question. Then he asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes. It was the best feeling in my life, and I know my wedding day will take its place.”

This was my first wedding at Dewberry Farm and I can’t wait to go back. There are beautiful picture areas everywhere. It’s well taken care of and clean with bright getting ready spaces, lots of animals and landscaping plus amazing owners and planners. Tiffany and Thomas’s day couldn’t have gone better. 

Courtney and I started the day with the girls upstairs in the manor. They were drinking champagne and finishing getting ready. Tiffany was her normal joyful self, smiling and laughing.

The guys were hanging out upstairs, playing pool and sitting on the porch overlooking the ceremony site. Thomas was happy and grinning as well. I’m telling you Tiffany and Thomas were made for each other. 

Tiffany and Thomas chose to forego a first look and just hold hands before the ceremony and exchange gifts. Tiffany got Thomas a watch that was engraved with “You make time stand still 4-27-19.” Thomas got Tiffany a set of pearls with earrings and a matching bracelet. My favorite detail from the day was on Tiffany’s dress. Her something blue was a piece of her Dad’s tie sown into the dress, in the shape of a heart. 

The day was warm but pleasant and full of sunshine. Their ceremony was outside where Tiffany and Thomas were married by their best man. They choose to take part in the unity tree ceremony with a young Japanese red maple tree. They both put dirt from their childhood homes to mix in with the soil that will be planted in the dirt at their new home together! 

Once Tiffany and Thomas were pronounced as husband and wife they walked down the aisle smiling. The sweetest moment happened as they were walking. Tiffany laid her head on Thomas’s shoulder for a moment, closed her eyes and he gently kissed her forehead. I audibly said “awwwww” and was grateful for that memory being captured on camera for them forever. 

After the ceremony we roamed around (being escorted by the Dewberry golf cart) and took their fun bride and groom pictures. From a gravel road, to a bridge in the woods and a gorgeous barn they have so many portraits open. We also got to see some of the farm animals. There are goats, horses, miniature donkeys and more. 

Tiffany and Thomas walked into their reception to the song T.N.T. by AC/DC. Get it? T and T, Tiffany and Thomas! They then ran under a human bridge formed by their bridal party and went into their romantic first dance. 

Tiffany made sure to include her late father in the ceremony. There was the tie sewn into her dress, a memorial table at the wedding with him and other family members and a sign that said “Daddy, we know you’d be here today if heaven weren’t so far away.” The sweetest tribute was a slideshow with music and pictures of her Dad and the family that took the place of the traditional Father/Daughter dance.

After celebrating for awhile Tiffany, Thomas, Courtney and I snuck out to take some sunset pictures. These are truly magical! Tiffany’s Grandpa brought his 1934 Ford that he has been taking care of since the 70’s. Later we frolicked in the horse pasture. 

Tiffany and Thomas had so many special details at their reception. J’Peppers catered and if you remember that is where they first met! Also, they brought in Duck Donuts and had one created specifically for their wedding day. The gifts for their guests were local honey and coffee.

These two were surrounded by their loved ones as they danced and celebrated throughout the afternoon and evening! Their sendoff was just as spectacular as these two are. They released Chinese Lanterns into the sky and Thomas picked Tiffany up in his arms and kissed her!
