Abby & Michael are Married!

Based in beautiful North Carolina, I’m a wedding, family and senior photographer with a heart for real moments, golden light, and the kind of love that makes your chest feel full.

Photography, for me, isn’t just about pretty pictures. Though, don’t worry, we’ll get those too. It’s about creating a space where you can be fully present and comfortable, while I document it all in a way that feels natural and true to you.

Abby and Michael were married last week in Beaufort, NC. They had an intimate wedding on a beautiful estate that they rented from VRBO. I adored everything about this day and I won’t soon forget it or them! I feel so honored that I was there to document this day for them.

Abby and Michael met through mutual friends. They knew each other before they were set up but they both happened to end relationships around the same time. Their friends knew they were both single and thought that it would be a good match!

Abby and Michael went to a parade called the Cat Square Parade in West Lincoln, NC. Michael and his brother always have get togethers after the parade and Abby went. Now every year they have a party after the parade!

Their first date was a dinner at Old Stone in Belmont, NC during restaurant week. She said she remembers what he was wearing and how nervous she was. They have been together 4 and half years since then!

Michael and Abby both love the ocean and the beach and vacation their often. On one of their trips, they went out to the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier in Emerald Isle. Michael had written Abby a letter and proposed at the end. Her Mom and sister were there and took pictures! Courtney and I began the day at the VRBO estate in Beaufort. As we entered the iron gates of the estate I knew exactly why Abby and Michael had chosen this property! The gorgeous coral house was to our left and the amazing ceremony site was to our right.

We started in the house with the bridesmaids getting ready and taking pictures in their monogramed Columbia PFG shirts! I don’t think I saw Abby do anything but smile on this day. She was filled with joy.

When it was time for Abby to put on her dress she had lots of meaningful details. Her something blue and a penny for her shoe were attached to her anklet. Her something borrowed was a string of pearls that was a gift from her late father in law to her mother in law. The monogramed earrings she wore were a gift from a friend. Abby even made her own bouquet out of sunflowers!

While I photographed Abby and her bridesmaids, Courtney went to get some pictures of the guys getting ready. This entire bridal party was so much fun. Everyone was staying in the estate and they all had such close bonds! It was like one big family.

The ceremony site overlooked the water. Birds flew in the background and wind swayed through the Spanish moss hanging from the trees. There was already a dim glow of golden sunset light across the horizon. As Abby walked down the aisle to Michael you could tell that they both wanted nothing more than to live in that moment.

After the ceremony, family formals and bridal party pictures it was time for bride and groom pictures. I am obsessed with the views we got across the water. These two are a fantastic couple. I love the way they effortlessly fit together.

My favorite pictures were with the Dank Burrito truck. Abby and Michael love Dank Burrito and eat there every time they are in the Southern Outer Banks. They had Dank cater the wedding, so we had to get a few pictures with the graffitied food truck!

Abby and Michael headed into their reception filled with the family and friends that had helped them create the wedding of their dreams! They ate, danced, cut cake, made smores by the bonfire and celebrated! Then they kissed and dipped during their sparkler exit. The party favors they gave their guests were sunflower seeds!

The day before their wedding a nor’easter hit the coast of North Carolina. There were heavy rains, strong winds and flash flooding. The wind lasted until the morning of the wedding and finally died down. The beautiful weather on their wedding day was such a blessing! Not one drop of rain fell and there was a gorgeous sunset.

Abby and Michael I am so grateful I got to know you both. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of your day. Thank you again for trusting me to capture your memories. I hope you are having a wonderful honeymoon and that you both enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
