Brooke and Matt are Married!

Brooke and Matt were married last Saturday in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at the Weathervane Winery in Lexington, NC. I have been excited about their wedding since I got to know them at their engagement last October. We were blessed with an epic sunset that night and I knew that these two were going to have an amazing wedding.

They have been dating since high school and have been together for a total of 11 years. After all this time they are still obviously smitten with each other and so perfectly meant to be! I told them on their engagement session that they beat my husband and I’s record of dating for 8 years before marriage.

Brooke and Matt are funny, cheerful people who don’t take themselves too seriously. They are family oriented and have a strong system of people who love and support them. Their wedding day had lots of happy tears, laughter, music and dancing.

The day began with everyone getting ready at Weathervane Winery. The girls started first in a room full of excitement, laughing and putting on their own makeup. The weather was warm, warmer than one would expect an October 21st wedding to be even in North Carolina, with a brilliant bright blue and partly cloudy sky. Brooke had perfectly picked out every decoration for the venue and it was almost finished being set up when we arrived.

When Matt arrived, the guys started to get ready and help each other with their ties and shirts. One of the groomsmen even got his hair braided by a bridesmaid! After they were dressed Matt and Brooke exchanged gifts. This is when the tears started to flow for Brooke. I think the reality of the day set in for her and she was overwhelmed with joy that it had finally arrived. Matt was smiling, anxious and so ready to see Brooke.

Brooke and Matt had their first look under a tree with the vineyard in the background. Brooke again shed happy tears and Matt beamed at his beautiful bride. They were both so happy to be marrying their best friends!

The rest of the day flowed perfectly with a stunning outdoor ceremony and just enough golden light to grab a few more bride and groom photos. At their reception instead of speeches they were surprised with a handwritten rap performed by the Best Man and Matron of Honor. The rap had everyone cracking up, especially the newlyweds! They finished out the night with a lot of dancing and ended with kissing under glow sticks and twinkle lights.
