Centennial Station Arts Center High Point Wedding

Rebekah & Eric were married last Saturday at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church and their reception was held at Centennial Station Arts Center. Both venues are in High Point, North Carolina. This was an unforgettable wedding day. It is the culmination of a beautiful love story.

Rebekah & Eric met on Christian Mingle and their first date lasted 11 hours. I think that is a pretty good indication of how much they like each other! It was a fall day in November of 2014. They strolled around Old Salem, stopped for coffee (even though Eric doesn’t drink it), attended church and ate dinner at Chili’s. Rebekah said they couldn’t stop talking from the moment they met. Although she said it was probably more talking from her end.

On April 15th of 2017 Eric asked Rebekah to be his wife in one of the sweetest ways I have ever heard! Rebekah says that the day started normally for her (Eric and her parents had been up since 4am planning). Rebekah & Eric went to eat breakfast and then lunch at Chili’s (their first date spot).

They ended up walking to their church and Eric blindfolded Rebekah when they got there. Rebekah had been wanting a golden doodle for years and he began by giving her a puppy. Later she was named Buttercup or the proposal puppy.

I will let Rebekah’s words take over now because she describes the proposal in the most beautiful way: “We then walked together over (all three of us now) to the white historical prayer chapel. He opened the door and I was completely taken aback by what I saw all around me. It was the most magical site to take in! I saw 120 white balloons hung from the ceiling rafters. I saw picture banners of us over the past years. I saw love promises handwritten by him. I saw lights hung around a sign that read “I have found the one whom my soul loves.” I saw rose petals scattered all along the church pews. I saw a beautiful bouquet of flowers arranged by my mom. I saw a sign that read “All you need is love and a golden doodle.” And finally…I looked down and saw “Will you marry me?” spelled out in alternating colors of rose petals on the floor and my soul mate, Eric Dobbins, on one knee. I began to cry as he spoke the most heartfelt words to me and asked the big question. He held the most beautiful, glistening, and shiny engagement ring that he then placed on my shaking finger. I of course said YES with my sweet puppy in hand and my other arm wrapped around my now fiance! He then gave me a hand written letter addressed “To my future wife…” where I continued crying more. No details were overlooked and he had even brought changes of clothes for us to take matching pictures together of the big event! My parents and his mom then came out from the church hiding spot and we all united in hugs, tears, and pure joy!!! It was the most incredible proposal I could have ever imagined or dreamed of experiencing!!”

Now you have a small idea of how much Rebekah and Eric love each other. They were both smiling from ear to ear the entire wedding day. They are affectionate, kind, gentle and loving with each other. The day began with Rebekah and her girls getting ready at the church. Rebekah was vibrant and smiling as she always is. There were so many beautiful details included in this wedding day.

We hung Rebekah’s dress from the prayer chapel where they were engaged. Rebekah wore her late Grandmother’s necklace that she had worn to prom. Rebekah’s Mom made all the gorgeous bouquets and flower arrangements. Their invitation had stunning gold writing with the words “I have found the one whom my soul loves.”

Kristin headed to an adorable cabin called “Green Acres” down the road where Eric and his guys were getting ready. They spent the morning fishing and relaxing. Eric got to open his letter and gift from Rebekah.

I hung out with the ladies and we had fun and lots of laughs. This was such an amazing bridal party. After their pictures it was time for Rebekah’s Dad to see her. He was already tearing up before he even turned around. They both had me in tears!

Their ceremony was perfect. Rebekah’s Dad was one of the officiants and he said something that had everyone emotional. “If you want to know what God looks like when he is happy just look at Rebekah when she smiles.” These families are so full of love.

Guest placed flowers on a cross when they entered the church. Words of love from First Corinthians were displayed in each windowsill. Rebekah and Eric tied the cord of three strands. They kneeled on a prayer bench from the 1800’s that was carried in from the prayer chapel. They took communion on that bench. They exchanged vows and rings and soaked in every moment of becoming man and wife. The entire church held hands and prayed together.

After the ceremony we took some amazing bridal party and bride and groom pictures and headed to their reception. Rebekah did not leave one detail out of her wedding day. They had pictures of loved ones that had passed away and photos of their journey to husband and wife. The seating chart lead to hymns on each table.

They had a bible where you could highlight your favorite verse and sign it. There was a popcorn bar and a coffee bar. They had cake and cupcakes with a sign that says “we go together like cake and icing.” Their sweetheart table even had a bell that you could ring for them to kiss!

During their first dance Rebekah and Eric surprised all of us with a beautifully choreographed dance. We snuck out for some sunset portraits and I’m so glad we did. These two are so adorable together!

For their exit Rebekah and Eric kissed under the light of sparklers. They got into a horse drawn carriage with a sign on the back that said just married. To say this day was magical would be an understatement. We were blessed with good weather and even better people!
