Kattie and Josh’s wedding last Saturday was filled with all the sweet moments that weddings can have. Kattie and Josh were married at the Marler Road Baptist Church in Hamptonville, NC. This is the church they have both attended for years. It is such a big part of them and their relationship I couldn’t picture them celebrating their big day anywhere else.
Josh and Kattie have been dating for almost a year now. Josh just knew he had to marry Kattie and he proposed to her after a few months of dating. He asked her to marry him at the gorgeous Depot Restaurant in Dobson surrounded by all of Kattie’s family. Kattie said yes and the rest is history!
When you first meet Kattie and Josh you can’t help but love them. They are both such kind, genuine people with love for God, their church, their families, friends and each other. They laugh together often and balance each other perfectly. Their engagement session at WinMock was so much fun. You can find those pictures here. I knew their wedding day would be no different. Kattie also had an amazing, golden light filled bridal session at Old Salem. To see those stunning photos follow this link.
We arrived while Kattie and her girls were getting ready at the church. The flower girl was getting her hair curled and everyone was relaxing in their matching robes and savoring the moment. The guys arrived soon after and hung out outside the church laughing and enjoying the nice weather that we had during the beginning of the day!
Kattie and Josh choose to have a “first touch.” They held hands around the side of their church and talked to each other. Neither of them were nervous and both were just excited to be married. After that they read letters that they had written for each other and said goodbye until the ceremony!
There were so many little details that made this wedding special. Kattie and Josh have such a wonderful community of people who came together and created a beautiful day. My favorite detail was a small picture of Kattie’s Grandpa attached to her bouquet. Although she had lost him a few months before the wedding he would be walking down the aisle with her.
A wooden arbor sat on the stage of Marler Road Church covered in beautiful flowers and surrounded by lanterns. Kattie walked down the aisle arm and arm with her father. She was beaming! Josh took one look at his bride and for a moment covered his eyes. Their family sat wiping their eyes, smiling and silently celebrating. Happy tears are the best tears.
After the ceremony we quickly took family, bridal party and bride and groom pictures outside in the cold! Kattie was cold but never complained once. We got some amazing cloudy day pictures that were so worth it!
The reception was held in the fellowship hall. They ate dinner, listened to music and cut cake with the ones they love the most. Kattie and Josh said goodbye to their guests under the light of sparklers and we took one last shot at night in front of the church that defines their relationship!
Josh and Kattie it was an honor to photograph you both. I wish you both a lifetime of love, faith and happiness. I know you will navigate the storms and sunshine of life together. Thank you for trusting me to capture your memories. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them!
